Overview
Lumbar radiculopathy—commonly referred to as sciatica—is a condition where a nerve in the lower back becomes irritated or compressed. This often causes pain that travels from the lower back into the buttock, thigh, and leg. It can result from a number of spinal conditions, including disc herniation and spinal stenosis.
Common Symptoms
- Lower back pain radiating down one or both legs
- Tingling or numbness in the leg, foot, or toes
- Burning or electric-like pain in the buttock or thigh
- Weakness in the leg or foot
- Worsening with prolonged sitting or standing

- Lumbar disc herniation
